Today is a very auspicious day as it is Dvadashi tithi and the disappearance days of three Gosvamis. Thus, today is a very super-excellent, auspicious day. I want to speak about their life histories and contributions, especially that of Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami, who was very nearest and dearest of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
When Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu travelled in East Bengal, He arrived at Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami’s father, Tapana Mishra’s house. His family were all Vaishnavas and totally surrendered to the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Once, Tapana Mishra, the father of Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami, asked Lord Chaitanya, “In my dream I was very anxious. I had this question: In this Kali-yuga, what is sadhana and sadhya? I could not come to the conclusion on my own. For this regard, I was confused about what to do and what not to do. Then another night, in my dream, a brahmana appeared and the brahmana said, ‘O Tapana Mishra, don’t worry, Nimai Pandita has come and perhaps Nimai Pandita will give the perfect answer to your question.” Afterwards, that brahmana disappeared from Tapana Mishra’s dream and he then met with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu:
sādhya-sādhana-tattva ye kichu sakala
hari-nāma-saṅkīrtane milibe sakala
Chaitanya-bhagavata (Adi-khanda 14.143)
[By congregationally chanting the holy names you achieve
everything, including the goal of life and the means for attaining it.]
In this Kali-yuga, you may understand everything through the processes of sadhya and sadhana. Sadhya means the goal, and sadhana refers to our practice— bhakti. And everything may be realised through nama-sankirtana. Before Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu travelled in East Bengal, He married Lakshmi-priya. During that time, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was called Nimai Pandita, therefore everyone addressed as such.
And every time Nimai Pandita travelled in East Bengal and came to the house of Sri Raghunatha Bhatta’s family, they very eagerly worshipped the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who at that time was still named Nimai Pandita. During one visit Tapana Mishra asked Him, “In this Kali-yuga, who is our ishtadeva, worshipable deities? And what is our sadhya and sadhana?” After hearing these questions, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu replied, “You may realise everything through nama-sankirtana, because in this Kali-yuga, there is no other option to attain the Lord, only by nama-sankirtana.” Then Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu recited this verse:
kṛte yad dhyāyato viṣṇuṁ
tretāyāṁ yajato makhaiḥ
dvāpare paricaryāyāṁ
kalau tad dhari-kīrtan
Srimad-Bhagavatam (12.3.52)
[Whatever result was obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Vishnu, in Treta-yuga by performing sacrifices, and in Dvapara-yuga by serving the Lord’s lotus feet can be obtained in Kali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.]
‘Kṛte yad dhyāyato viṣṇuṁ’ - Krite means Satya-yuga. In Satya-yuga, one attains the Lord only by meditating on Him. ‘Tretāyāṁ yajato makhaiḥ’ - In Treta-yuga, you must perform fire sacrifices. ‘Dvāpare paricaryāyāṁ’ - In Dvapara-yuga, you may worship the deities of the Lord. And ‘kalau tad dhari-kīrtan’- in this Kali-yuga, the Lord is attained only through nama-sankirtana:
harer nāma harer nāma
harer nāmaiva kevalam
kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva
nāsty eva gatir anyathā
Brihan-naradiya Purana (38.126)
[For spiritual progress in this age of Kali, there is no alternative, there is no alternative, there is no alternative to the holy name, the holy name, the holy name of the Lord.]
In this Kali-yuga, there is no other process to attain our highest perfected goal, only by nama-sankirtana. So, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said that in this Kali-yuga nama-sankirtana is our sadhana and sadhya. By performing nama-sankirtana, you will attain our highest perfection. For this reason, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu recited this verse in Shikshashtaka:
ceto-darpaṇa-mārjanaṁ bhava-mahā-dāvāgni-nirvāpaṇaṁ
śreyaḥ-kairava-candrikā-vitaraṇaṁ vidyā-vadhū-jīvanam
ānandāmbudhi-vardhanaṁ prati-padaṁ pūrṇāmṛtāsvādanaṁ
sarvātma-snapanaṁ paraṁ vijayate śrī-kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtanam
Sri Shikshashtaka (1)
[Glory to the sri-krishna-sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.]
Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also told Tapana Mishra, “You have to go to Kashi, soon I will come there and meet with you.” Thus, Tapana Mishra left East Bengal and went to Kashi. Later, Mahaprabhu accepted sannyasa and once again, visited the house of Tapana Mishra. This katha is also mentioned in Chaitanya-charitamrita.
Now I will speak on Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami’s life history.
daṇḍa-paraṇāma kari’ bhaṭṭa paḍilā caraṇe
prabhu ‘raghunātha’ jāni kailā āliṅgane
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Antya-lila 13.101)
[Raghunatha Bhatta fell straight as a rod at the lotus feet of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Then the Lord embraced him, knowing well who he was.]
As mentioned, when Raghunatha Bhatta’s father and mother left East Bengal, they came to Kashi. While Raghunatha was staying in Kashi, he remembered Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s grihastha pastimes, and how he would serve the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
After traveling to Jagannatha Puri, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami had some doubts in his mind over whether Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu would remember him or not. However, when Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami arrived at Jagannatha Puri from Kashi, upon seeing him, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu embraced him with love and affection and asked, “How are you?” In Chaitanya-charitamrita, Srila Krishnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami explains:
daṇḍa-paraṇāma kari’ bhaṭṭa paḍilā caraṇe
prabhu ‘raghunātha’ jāni kailā āliṅgane
In this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu removed all inauspiciousness, duhkha, from his heart when He embraced Raghunatha Bhatta. After seeing Mahaprabhu’s smile, and hearing Him address him by saying, “O Raghunatha, how are you?” Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami’s heart melted and tears began rolling down from his eyes. Then, he held the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya and Raghunatha Bhatta replied, “O Prabhu, You are so merciful and generous.”
Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu then said, “I came to your house many years before My sannyasa. At that time your parents very lovingly served Me. I can not forget this love and affection and how your mother cooked many kinds of preparations for Me.” In this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu remembered His pastimes of staying in their house in East Bengal. After, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also began glorifying Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami in front of all the senior Vaishnavas.
Next, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu brought some jagannatha-prasada and began distributing it to all the devotees and then He gave some to Raghunatha Bhatta also. Raghunatha Bhatta also brought many kinds of preparations for Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which pleased the Lord very much. Mahaprabhu told his personal servant Govinda, “You must keep all of these things.” The Lord instructed him to do this because:
bhaktera dravya prabhu 'kari' kari' khaya
abhaktera dravya prabhu 'ulati' na caya
[The Lord will grab food from His devotee, but He will not even glance at anything given by a non-devotee.]
Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami was a pure devotee and had so much love and affection with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. For this reason, Lord Chaitanya told his personal servant Govinda, “You must carefully keep all of this prasada which he has brought. And once a day, you will offer some to Me.” Here, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu showed how He was so happy with Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami because he brought all of these preparations from Kashi.
Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also reminded him “Yes, your father was a generous person, and you are a learned scholar. When I was staying in your house he asked Me about sadhya, sadhana and tattva. At that time, I answered all of his questions. Your father told Me about his dream, how one brahmana appeared and how this brahmana told him that one person would come to your house and He is non-different from Lord Narayana:
manuṣya nahena teṅho-nara-nārāyaṇa
nara-rūpe līlā tā’rā jagat-kāraṇa
Chaitanya-bhagavata (Adi-khanda 14.123)
[He’s not an ordinary human being; He’s Nara-Narayana Himself. He’s performing His pastimes as a human being to deliver the people of the world.]
Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu continued, “O Raghunatha Bhatta, I was very happy with your parents. During My visit you also served My lotus feet. You wanted to come with Me, however I told you, ‘No, you have to stay in your house and serve your elderly parents.’ I also told you not get married and enter into household life.” In this way, Mahaprabhu laughed and joked with him. Now, Raghunatha Bhatta was very pleased with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. If you recall, as Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami was travelling from Kashi to Jagannatha Puri, his mind had many doubts that had arisen. Because of his doubts, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu spontaneously began reminding him of all of these kathas. And in this way, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami received the mercy of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The Lord also told him, “O Raghunatha, you have to return back to your house as your parents are still alive. After your parents have departed this material world, you can go to Vrindavana-dhama and stay with Rupa and Sanatana Gosvami.” This was the instruction that Mahaprabhu gave him.
Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who at the time was still called Nimai Pandita, returned to East Bengal and began preaching. While He was away from His home in Navadvipa-dhama, His wife Lakshmipriya left her body from viraha. Meaning, Lakshmipriya could not tolerate separation from Nimai Pandita. Externally, it is explained that she left her body from snake bites. However, this conception is not perfect.
Our Gosvamis explain that actually, Lakshmipriya-devi left her body because she could not tolerate the separation from Nimai Pandita. Upon His return, when Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu heard of this, He became very serious for a couple of minutes, then He pacified His mother Saci-devi, as Saci-devi and Ishana Thakura, who was her house servant, became very sad after Lakshmipriya-devi left her body. So Mahaprabhu also pacified them by saying, “Do not worry, according to kala, time, all of us are meeting together, and also according to time we are separating from each other. Sarvaṁ kāla-kṛtaṁ manye. Everything happens by the accordance of kala.”
In this manner, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who at the time was still named Nimai Pandita, pacified Sacimata and Ishana Thakura. Fulfilling His mother’s request, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu later married Vishnupriya-devi. Afterwards, Lord Chaitanya left His house again and this time He would accept sannyasa. Then, he arrived in Jagannatha Puri because mother Saci-devi told Him, “Nimai, you should not go to Vrindavana-dhama as it is very far from Navadvipa. Rather, you have to stay in Jagannatha Puri.” Sacinandana Gaurahari is known as matri-bhakta-shiromani (the topmost gem of all devotees of mothers). This is the reason why He remained in Jagannatha Puri.
After accepting sannyasa, Sriman Mahaprabhu travelled to South India and many different places. As He proceeded to Vrindavana, He came to Kashi and again, He stayed in the house of Tapana Mishra. Even when Chaitanya Mahaprabhu would sometimes reside at Candrashekhara’s house in Kashi, the Lord would still take maha-prasada from the house of Tapana Mishra every day.
While staying in Kashi, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also preached there. However in Kashi, there were so many mayavadis, and they would criticise Vaishnavas. Mahaprabhu never associated with these mayavadis. After a few days, He again began proceeding to Vrindavana. Once Lord Chaitanya took darshana of Vrindavana, He returned to Kashi, and then He gave mercy to the mayavadis there. In Chaitanya-charitamrita it is explained that when Sriman Mahaprabhu arrived to Kashi that time, Tapana Mishra was taking a bath in the Ganga, Manikarnika-ghata located in Kashi. All of a sudden, he heard thousands and thousands of people chanting the holy names, and all of the Kashivasis were completely flooded with the divine love of nama-sankirtana:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
One day, Maharashtra Vipra very humbly requested that Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu come and take prasada in his house. However, Mahaprabhu would not associate with mayavadis. Still, that brahmana repeatedly asked Lord Chaitanya, “Please take prasada in my house.” During that time, he called all mayavadi sannyasis, including Prakashananda Sarasvati. Eventually, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu did visit the home of Maharashtra Vipra. While there, He discussed Shankara philosophy and cut it all. Afterwards, the Lord gave His mercy to Prakashananda Sarasvati. In this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu gave mercy to all the Kashivasis.
Tapana Mishra requested that Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu would stay in his house for a few more days. Except, Mahaprabhu told Tapana Mishra, “I am sannyasi, I have to return back to Jagannatha Puri.” At that time, Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami was already a very learned and scholarly person. He again asked the Lord, “Prabhu, I want to go with You.” Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu answered, “O Raghunatha, your mother and father are Vaishnavas and you have to serve their lotus feet. There is no need to travel with Me. When your parents depart this material world, you will then go to Vrindavana and stay with Rupa and Sanatana Gosvami.”
In this way, Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami received the mercy of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. A few years later, Raghunatha Bhatta’s parents left their bodies. And he went to Jagannatha Puri to meet with Lord Chaitanya. During his visit, Sri Raghunatha Bhatta brought many delicious foodstuffs for the Lord.
On the way to see the Lord, Raghunatha Bhatta encountered a learned and scholarly person, whose name was Ramadasa. Ramadasa proceeded with Raghunatha Bhatta to Jagannatha Puri and he humbly told Raghunatha, “I can carry all of your luggage on my head.” You see, during those times there were no conveniences during travel. While going to Jagannatha Puri, most people would travel on foot and have to carry or pull their luggage along. So to render seva, Ramadasa carried all of Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami’s luggage and sincerely served him along the way to Jagannatha Puri.
Then, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami arrived in Jagannatha Puri and met with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Mahaprabhu told him, “First, you must bathe in the ocean,” then afterwards, he took darshana of Lord Jagannatha. Next, he offered all the prasada that he brought to Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s personal servant, Govinda. When Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu saw all of these different kinds of delicious foods and many kinds of preparations that he brought, the Lord became very pleased.
On that occasion, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami stayed with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for around eight or nine months. During Lord Jagannatha’s Ratha-yatra festival, Sri Raghunatha Bhatta became very surprised at how Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was dancing and singing in front of Lord Jagannatha. Once the Jagannatha cart festival ends, the four following months are called Chaturmasya. Throughout this period, Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami was staying with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and he listened to hari-katha every day. Finally, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu instructed him to go to Vrindavana. Thus, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami went to Vrindavana and he met with Rupa and Sanatana Gosvami. Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu sent jagannatha-prasada, a big garland remnant of Lord Jagannatha and many other things to take with him. The Gosvami would keep the garland that Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu gave him in Jagannatha Puri. Day and night, he was absorbed in remembrances of Lord Chaitanya.
Once Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami arrived in Vrindavana, he stayed with Rupa and Sanatana Gosvami. After Rupa and Sanatana heard about Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s love and affection, they became completely absorbed in separation from Him, and they embraced Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami.
Raghunatha Bhatta would give classes on Bhagavatam and his melodies were especially sweet— sounding like kokila-kantha. Kokila-kantha means that his voice is like cuckoo birds. Whenever Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami recited all the shlokas from Srimad-Bhagavatam in different tunes, everyone would be charmed. And for this reason, Rupa and Sanatana would sometimes come to hear his Bhagavata-katha.
In Chaitanya-charitamrita Krishnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami also writes:
rūpa-gosāñira sabhāya karena bhāgavata-paṭhana
bhāgavata paḍite preme āulāya tāṅra mana
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Antya-lila 13.126)
[When reciting Srimad-Bhagavatam in the company of Rupa and Sanatana, Raghunatha Bhatta would be overwhelmed with ecstatic love for Krishna.]
aśru, kampa, gadgada prabhura kṛpāte
netra kaṇṭha rodhe bāṣpa, nā pāre paḍite
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Antya-lila 13.127)
[By the mercy of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he experienced the symptoms of ecstatic love —tears, trembling, and faltering of the voice. His eyes filled with tears, his throat became choked, and thus he could not recite Srimad-Bhagavatam.]
Here, Srila Krishnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami explains that sometimes Rupa and Sanatana would come to hear Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami’s Bhagavata-katha. And when Raghunatha Bhatta would discuss krishna-katha from Srimad-Bhagavatam, his heart would completely melt, tears would roll down from his eyes, and sometimes his throat was completely choked and he could not read any shlokas.
As mentioned, when Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami recited verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam he used three or four different sweet melodies. Because of his sweet narrations, many people were attracted to his Bhagavata-katha.
Among our six Gosvamis, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami is one of the very nearest and dearest of all devotees. Srinivasa Acharya composed this verse in Sri Shad-gosvami-ashtaka:
saṅkhyā-pūrvaka-nāma-gāna-natibhiḥ kālāvasānī-kṛtau
nidrāhāra-vihārakādi-vijitau cātyanta-dīnau ca yau
rādhā-kṛṣṇa-guṇa-smṛter madhurimānandena sammohitau
vande rūpa-sanātanau raghu-yugau śrī-jīva-gopālakau
Sri Shad-gosvami-ashtaka (6)
[I offer my respectful obeisances unto the six Gosvamis, namely Sri Rupa Gosvami, Sri Sanatana Gosvami, Sri Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami, Sri Raghunatha dasa Gosvami, Sri Jiva Gosvami, and Sri Gopala Bhatta Gosvami, who were engaged in chanting the holy names of the Lord and bowing down in a scheduled measurement. In this way they utilized their valuable lives and in executing these devotional activities they conquered over eating and sleeping and were always meek and humble enchanted by remembering the transcendental qualities of the Lord.]
Our Gosvamis like Srila Rupa Gosvamipada, Srila Sanatana Gosvamipada, Srila Raghunatha dasa Gosvamipada and Srila Jiva Gosvamipada composed so many books. However, we did not get any books written by Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami. We have only heard how he was very expert in giving Bhagavata-katha. And for this reason, everyone would become completely absorbed when listening to his hari-katha. It is also known that Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami had disciples. One of them, being wealthy, built the temple of Sri Govindadeva.
Once, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami was giving Bhagavata-katha, and especially discussing Srimati Radhika’s divya-unmada-dasha, transcendental madness. He narrated verses from Bhramara-Gita in various melodies and he glorified Srimati Radhika’s divya-unmada-dasha, transcendental madness in different ways. After hearing his narrations, everyone was completely intoxicated, everyone’s tears began rolling down from their eyes, and everybody's hairs began to stand on end.
However, in the assembly house where Srila Raghunatha was speaking, everyone except Srila Rupa Gosvami was displaying ecstatic symptoms of prema-dasha— nothing seemed to manifest in the heart or body of the Gosvami. One day, a learned and scholarly person came and asked one devotee, “We have heard that Srila Rupa Gosvamipada is a very prominent Vaishnava, and actually that he is a maha-bhagavata. But, when he heard this katha from the lotus lips of Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami, his heart did not melt. There were no tears rolling down his face, nothing,”
The devotee replied to the learned and scholarly man, “You do not know the heart of Rupa Gosvami. In order for you to realise this, you must bring one piece of cotton next time Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami speaks katha and place it under Rupa’s nose.” The following time Raghunaha Bhatta Gosvami narrated, the inquiring scholar placed a piece of cotton under the nostril of Rupa Gosvamipada. Amazingly, the heat from the fire emanating from his nose caused the cotton to burn completely. Meaning, there was so much viraha, separation inside the body of Rupa Gosvamipada, that the heat from the burning fire of separation within him caused the cotton to become ablaze. After becoming very surprised, that pandita completely surrendered at the feet of both Rupa Gosvamipada and Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvamipada. In this way, there are so many pastimes of our Gosvamis which could be mentioned.
It is especially worth mentioning how Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami always remembered Mahaprabhu’s instructions. Mahaprabhu also told him:
grāmya-vārtā nā śune, nā kahe jihvāya
kṛṣṇa-kathā-pūjādite aṣṭa-prahara yāya
Chaitanya-charitamrita (Antya-lila 13.132)
[Raghunatha Bhatta would neither hear nor speak about anything of the material world. He would simply discuss Krishna and worship the Lord day and night.]
Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami never discussed mundane talk. With his tongue, he never criticised any Vaishnava. He simply, day and night, worshipped his Thakuraji.‘Kṛṣṇa-kathā-pūjādite aṣṭa-prahara yāya’. Eight prahara, eight yama. Sri Raghunatha Bhatta was completely absorbed in krishna-katha and krishna-puja. He was especially expert in discussing Srimad-Bhagavatamritam. And in these things especially:
nigama-kalpa-taror galitaṁ phalaṁ
śuka-mukhād amṛta-drava-saṁyutam
pibata bhāgavataṁ rasam ālayam
muhur aho rasikā bhuvi bhāvukāḥ
Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.1.3)
[O expert and thoughtful men, relish Srimad-Bhagavatam, the mature fruit of the desire tree of Vedic literatures. It emanated from the lips of Sri Shukadeva Gosvami. Therefore this fruit has become even more tasteful, although its nectarean juice was already relishable for all, including liberated souls.]
Thus, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami was always absorbed in discussing Srimad-Bhagavatamritam.
tava kathāmṛtaḿ tapta-jīvanaḿ
kavibhir īḍitaḿ kalmaṣāpaham
śravaṇa-mańgalaḿ śrīmad ātataḿ
bhuvi gṛṇanti ye bhūri-dā janāh
Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.31.1)
[The nectar of Your words and the descriptions of Your activities are the life and soul of those suffering in this material world. These narrations, transmitted by learned sages, eradicate one's sinful reactions and bestow good fortune upon whoever hears them. These narrations are broadcast all over the world and are filled with spiritual power. Certainly those who spread the message of Godhead are most munificent.]
In this way, day and night, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami remained absorbed in Srimad-Bhagavata-kathamritam and he also worshipped Thakuraji in his transcendental constitutional form (siddha-deha-parichaya). Here Gaura-ganoddesha-dipika mentions:
raghunathakhyako bhattah pura ya raga-maïjari
krita-shri-radhika-kunda-kutira-vasatih sa tu
Sri Gaura-ganoddesha-dipika (185)
[Raga Manjari appeared as Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami, who lived in a cottage near the shore of Radha-kunda.]
Gaura-ganoddesha-dipika mentions that in radha-krishna-lila, Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami is Raga Manjari, and in mahaprabhu-lila he is called Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami. I pray to all the Vaishnavas that one day I will perform bhajana and sadhana like Raghunatha Bhatta Gosvami and Krishnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami.
Gaura Premanande! Hari Hari Bol!
